It was quite cool until recently, even after July started. I was looking forward to this summer, thinking I might be able to experience the nostalgic kind of summer I felt back when I was an elementary school student.
Right after that, however, the rainy season ended, and a brutal summer arrived—feeling even hotter than last year.
I had noticed that there seemed to be a lot of aphids on the plants along my walking path this year, but now they are completely dried up and parched from the heat.
We still have an even hotter August ahead of us, but with it being this hot already, I can't help but feel a real sense of danger for our lives.
7月に入ってもここ最近まではとても涼しく、今年の夏は、小学生の頃に体感していたあの懐かしい夏を過ごせるのではないかと、密かに楽しみにしていた。
そんな淡い期待を裏切るように、突如として梅雨が明け、昨年を上回るほどの容赦ない酷暑がやってきた。
散歩道の草木に群れていたアブラムシが、今年は妙に多いなと感じていたのだが、今や彼らもカラカラに干からびている。
これからさらに厳しい8月を迎えるというのに、今からこの熱気では、本当に命の危機を感じずにはいられない。
